ABOUT US

AnnaLee and the Lucky So and Sos are a Kansas City-based band that celebrates the Kansas City sound of the decades of the 1930s, 40s, and 50s: the heyday of KC-style jazz, swing, and jump blues. The members of the band come from diverse musical backgrounds, with each musician bringing talents and experiences from years of performing in every venue imaginable - from road houses to opera houses.

Since the early 2000s, AnnaLee and the Lucky So and Sos have been thrilling audiences, and dancers, with their high-spirited interpretations of tunes by Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald, Julia Lee, Louie Jordan, and so many more, and the band has even contributed a few of their own original tunes, always in the distinctive Kansas City style.

A few of the many Kansas City venues where the band has appeared, all for multiple engagements, include the Kill Devil Club, the Intercontinental Hotel, and the Drum Room, and they have played for numerous private events locally as well as regionally. Additionally, in January of 2023 the group was named an "anchor" band at Johnnie's Jazz Bar and Grille in Kansas City's Power and Light District, performing in that venue on the third Saturday of each month.

The band also has made numerous appearances at KC-area outdoor concert series such as Zona Rosa, Raytown Live, Blue Springs’ Music in the Park, Linden Square in Gladstone, the Imagine Eleven Concert Series in St. Joseph, MO, Merriam’s Party in Your Park and Turkey Creek Festival, and the Roeland Park and Ward Parkway Summer Concert Series, and they were recently honored to be a featured artist in the Onstage Live Concert Series at Washburn University of Topeka.
